"Born and raised in Morrison, I now reside here with my husband and 3 children. My favorite part of Morrison is it's Main Street, the amazing schools, & the history that comes with this charming small town. I believe in its future and strive to make a difference for others living here."

Local Events

Whiteside County Courthouse & Law Enforcement Center

The Whiteside County Courthouse is a government building in Morrison, the county seat of Whiteside County. The County's first courthouse was a simple building constructed on the Lyndon public square starting in 1840, but as the county seat was removed to Sterling one year later, it saw only a short period of use for its original purpose. Our current courthouse, built in 1865, is a significantly larger brick building with the second floor hosting a circular courtroom. Today, it stands as one of Morrison's important landmarks as well as a place of multiple opportunities and employment for citizens all over the Whiteside County.

Morrison Community Hospital

MCH is a Critical Access Hospital providing immediate life improving medical services. The mission of Morrison Community Hospital is to improve the health of the residents of the hospital district and the surrounding area. At all times and to the fullest extent possible, personalized care and the welfare of the patient will be major factors in the determination of the activities, services, and direction of Morrison Community Hospital. Our continually developing hospital has become a great place for medical professionals and students to start or continue their careers as well as serve and assist those in need.

Our Schools

Morrison Community School District #6

Morrison Community School District #6 (MCUSD #6) gladly serves the students and the community of Morrison. Our District is strongly supported by the Community of Morrison as well as by groups such as the Morrison Schools Foundation, the Morrison Athletic Boosters, and the Morrison Music Boosters. The district has a long tradition of academic, athletic, and artistic excellence having been recognized and awarded local, state, and national groups. Composed of four buildings the District enrollment is approximately 1,000 students. The District offers a rigorous curriculum that focuses on standards based learning and 21st Century Learning skills. MCUSD #6 is a 1:1 district where students in Preschool through 12th grade have access to a personal computing device. With a 14:1 student to teacher ratio the District is able to offer smaller class sizes allowing a more individualized educational experience for our students. In addition to a strong emphasis on core subject areas the Morrison Community School District offers an expansive K-12 fine arts curriculum, including daily instruction in Art and Music.

Morrison Institute of Technology

The Morrison Institute of Technology is not a "sort of college". We are a very small, two-year ABET accredited college that places our students as our top priority. We believe the highest quality of learning occurs when students can gather in small, intimate class sizes and know each other well. We have chosen to forego the typical liberal arts education and have chosen a curriculum where there is zero time wasted taking classes that do not pertain or are relevant to the students chosen major. The student is able to dive right into what they love from day one. We are also a college that believes that the student and their family have instilled their values in the student - we are only here to educate the student. Period.

We offer an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Engineering Technology (Mechanical, Construction, and Automation) as well as Network Administration. While our degree is structured to place the graduate workforce ready upon graduation, it is also transferable to a four-year college/university to receive a Bachelor's Degree. We choose to focus on only two areas of concentration so that we can be the very best at what we do. Our resources are not spread out over thirty, forty or more majors; they are concentrated.
